The City Council of Puerto Lumbreras is carrying out repairs and adaptation of the tennis courts located in the Municipal Sports Center.
The mayor of the town, M ª Angeles Túnez, the councilor for Physical Activity and Sports, Juan Rubén Burrueco, and the president of the local Tennis Club, Ginés Pedrero, visited the facilities to check first-hand the state of the works.
Specifically, the actions consist of improving the condition of the tennis courts with the repair of paving and painting.
In addition, they will also carry out the review of the lines of play, according to the regulations of the Spanish Tennis Federation.
The mayor of the town explained that "with these efforts we intend to improve the state of conservation and safety of tennis courts with the aim of promoting the practice of this sport that has a large number of fans in the municipality."
"It is an intervention very demanded by the citizens and is expected to be carried out in the shortest time possible so as not to harm the students of the tennis school who use the slopes daily," explained Tunisia.
Mª Ángeles Tunisia recalled that "this performance complements others already executed last year as the repair of fence posts, replacement of the tension system and the renewal of the metal mesh with a new anchoring system."
The investment, which amounts to 14,000 euros, will achieve a significant improvement and will directly affect users.
Collaboration agreement
During the visit to the sports facilities, the mayor of the town and the club president formalized a collaboration agreement with the aim of promoting the practice of this sport in the municipality.
Through this agreement, the City will make a contribution of 2,000 euros to finance activities related to the practice of tennis.
