The plaza will have a recreational space with playgrounds and new green areas

The City Council of Puerto Lumbreras has begun the remodeling of the Plaza de la Ermita and its surroundings, located in La Estación-El Esparragal.

The mayor of the town, Mª Ángeles Túnez, and the general director of Agrarian Funds and Rural Development, Carmen Sandoval, have moved to the Lumbrerense district to know the status of the works.

The works that are being carried out consist of the repair of the pavement damages and the creation of a new recreational space inside the square with games for children and new green spaces.

In this way, the green areas will be extended with the planting of trees and flowers, as well as the extension of the surroundings next to the Church with walks and garden areas until the bus stop.

The mayor of the town, Mª Ángeles Túnez, stressed that "the objective of carrying out these tasks is to improve the image and the state of the Ermita area, which is very popular with citizens".

In this regard, Tunisia has stated that "the plaza of the urban core of La Ermita is one of the public spaces of first construction in the municipality, which is why we have considered it convenient to carry out adaptation works, adapted to the accessibility regulations".

The actions have a budget of 59,999.46 euros and are subsidized by the Campoder Local Action Group, framed in the Rural Development Program of the Region 2014-2020.

The City Council of Puerto Lumbreras presented this project to the call for aid of the strategy of participatory local development for rural development, within the Rural Development Program of the Region of Murcia 2014-2020 for unscheduled projects.

To conclude, the mayor explained that "this project arises from the need to improve the use of public spaces, giving them a new focus with the installation of street furniture and children's games, while doing gardening work to beautify the environment".
