The City Council of Puerto Lumbreras will request the Government of Spain the declaration of "area seriously affected by civil protection emergency" (16/09/2019)

The devastating effects of this storm have seriously affected the entire municipality and a large part of its population, and hundreds of incidents have been attended to by the emergency call telephone services 112.

The City Council of Puerto Lumbreras, after the meeting of the board of spokespersons of the political groups represented in the municipal corporation held this noon, will take an extraordinary plenary session on Tuesday, September 17, the request to the Government of Spain for the declaration of Puerto Lumbreras as "area severely affected by civil protection emergency".

A measure as a continuation of the one adopted by the Governing Council of the Region of Murcia, as well as the motion raised by the Popular Parliamentary Group to the Plenary of the Senate for this declaration for all municipalities affected by the DANA.

In addition, the president of the State Government himself in office, verbally recognized the emergency situation of civil protection during his visit to the Region of Murcia last Saturday.

According to this motion, the declaration must contain, at least, each and every one of the applicable measures provided for in article 24 of Law 17/2015 of July 9, of the National Civil Protection System.

The petition is based on the devastating effects of this storm, which have severely affected the entire municipality and a large part of its population, and hundreds of incidents have been attended to by the emergency call telephone services 112. In Puerto Lumbreras, They collected a cumulative total of more than 200 liters per m2 in a 48-hour time arc.

According to the first information, numerous agricultural and livestock farms have been affected with large losses in crops and economic, as well as private homes.

Likewise, this adverse weather situation has negatively affected rural roads, road networks, waterways, ravines, electricity, sewerage and drinking water supply.

All economic sectors have been affected, in one way or another, and the above mentioned must be added the damage caused to urban furniture, public roads, green areas, playgrounds, public facilities of various kinds, educational, sports and cultural facilities of municipal ownership, etc.
