The center of the Lumbrerense municipality will be a flying goal both Saturday and Sunday
The third edition of the International Cycling Tour of the Guadalentín Valley will be held next weekend February 8 and 9.
The sporting event, organized by the Juan Zurano Cycling Club, in collaboration with the Cycling Federation of the Region of Murcia and the Town Halls of Águilas, Lorca and Puerto Lumbreras, will be held in elite and sub23 categories, and will feature more of 140 runners of 18 teams of first international level in a tour prepared by the organization with very varied terrains.
After holding a coordination meeting of the security device of the passage of the test through the town with Local Police, Civil Protection and organization, Juan Rubén Burrueco, Councilor for Sports of the City of Puerto Lumbreras, stressed that "the Guadalentín Valley is the perfect setting to host a sporting event of this type that will bring together many fans of the cycling world. Again, this third edition will be a first-rate sports show that will keep Puerto Lumbreras on the national sports map. "
Cyclists will travel 125 kilometers in each of the two stages (Saturday and Sunday).
The departure of the first stage will be on Saturday, February 8, at 3 p.m., on the esplanade of the Infanta Elena de Águilas Auditorium and Conference Center;
from where the cyclists will roll towards the ascent of the Cañada de Alba port, where the approaching Lumbrereans will be able to enjoy the passage of the platoon about 4 in the afternoon.
Shortly after the return will run through the center of the municipality of Lumbrerense with a flywheel located next to the Augusto Vels Park, and with a later passage through El Esparragal by road RM-16 and the Puerto Lumbreras Station.
Starting at 4:45 p.m., cyclists will go through the mentioned points again, and the stage will end in Águilas.
The next one will leave at 10:00 hours on Sunday, February 9 from the Castle of Lorca.
That morning the test will also pass from 10:25 approximately by El Esparragal (The Station), center of Puerto Lumbreras with flywheel again next to the Augusto Vels Park, and Cañada de Alba.
The goal will be located next to the Torre del Espolón in Lorca.
The Councilor for Sports has invited citizens from nearby towns to visit Puerto Lumbreras and stressed that "attendees will enjoy a high-level competition, while they can learn about our heritage, culture and gastronomy."
