Puerto Lumbreras celebrates the first Plenary sessions involving persons with disabilities (01/12/2016)

This year, as a novelty, users of the Integral Center for Persons with Disabilities of Puerto Lumbreras (CIPED) and the association Apandis de Lorca participated.

All Plenaries have been broadcast live on the Internet through the website of the City Council of Puerto Lumbreras.

More than 200 children of the municipality have participated in the Plenary Infantile organized by the City council of Puerto Lumbreras to commemorate the Day of the Constitution, that is celebrated the 6 of December.

During the days of November 30 and December 1 students of the four public schools of the municipality have passed through the plenary hall to occupy the seats of the members of the Local Corporation.

In addition, this year, as a novelty, users of the Integral Center for Persons with Disabilities of Puerto Lumbreras (CIPED) and of the association Apandis de Lorca participated.

The mayor of the town, Mª Ángeles Tunis, explained that "we have launched this initiative so that people with disabilities and children become protagonists and can expose their own ideas and concerns."

In addition, the Mayor said that "for the first time, people with disabilities become council members for a day and discuss their proposals and other issues of interest in the City."

The Consistory has developed this initiative with the aim of bringing the local administration closer and listening to the requests of the students.

Thus, the students of 6th year of the four public schools of the municipality have been those who participated in this day.

During the development of the activity, the students have met in different municipal groups divided by colors and, through a spokesman, the proposals have been issued that have been put to a vote.

At the end of the Plenary, a turn of questions and questions has been opened.

In this regard, it should be noted that the Plenaries have been chaired by various political representatives, including the mayor of the town, Mª Ángeles Tunisia, the general director of Citizen Participation, European Union and Foreign Action, ManuelPleguezuelo, and the director Manager of the IMAS, Miguel Ángel Miralles.

Also, it should be noted that schoolchildren and people with disabilities have visited all departments of the City and have known its operation.

In addition, on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Spain's accession to the European Union, attendees have received a small talk with explanatory panels on the EU.

The Mayor stressed that "we join the celebration of the Day of the Spanish Constitution with the World Day of People with Disabilities. We are pleased to have launched this initiative, everyone has had a great time, while having acquired new knowledge And have shared a new experience with their peers. "

Finally, Tunisia stressed that "the participation of people with disabilities in plenary is an unprecedented activity in the Region of Murcia."

The Mayor recalled that the holding of these Plenary "is a sign of our commitment to the most vulnerable people and citizen participation."
