275 athletes participated this morning in the seventh edition of the Rise to the Sima del Cabezo de la Jara, organized by Club MTB Cabezo de la Jara, in collaboration with the City Council of Puerto Lumbreras.
Thus, the sports day, which has had its starting point on the esplanade of the Municipal Sports Complex, has been divided into three different modalities: mountain bike rides, hiking and walking.
This new edition has counted on a route of 13 kilometers by natural places and has culminated in the Sima del Cabezo.
The athletes on their tour have been able to enjoy a natural environment of the Cabezo de la Jara, and the awards ceremony has been held in the Youth Hostel with a lunch of coexistence between participants.
At the end of the day, trophies were awarded, proclaiming champion José Manuel Cayuela in the overall standings in the MTB men's category and Mª Carmen Villena in the women category.
On the other hand, in the modality running the champion was Francisco David Soto in masculine category and Mª Carmen Romero in feminine category.
In addition, more than 160 people made the journey in the form of hiking in a non-competitive way.
