Puerto Lumbreras improves its recycling data (19/02/2017)

The percentage of recycling of light containers per person has increased by 14.89% in the last year.

In the case of paper and cardboard packaging, recycling has increased by 38.39%.

"This improvement is partly due to the awareness campaigns that we have put in place during the last months and that we will continue to promote to seek greater involvement of all citizens," explained the Councilor for Sustainable Development.

The municipality of Puerto Lumbreras has improved recycling data over the past year.

Specifically, in 2016 110,260 kilograms of light containers (yellow container) and 65,225 kilograms of paper and cardboard (blue container) were collected.

In the same way, 36,390 kilograms of cardboard were collected with the door-to-door collection procedure in stores.

Regarding light packaging, the percentage of recycling of kilos per person has increased by 14.89% in the last year.

In the case of paper and paperboard, recycling has increased by 38.39%.

The Councilor for Sustainable Development, Angela Morillas, stressed that "this has been possible thanks to the collaboration of citizens, who demonstrate their commitment to the environment by placing their containers in one of the 230 containers in our municipality, 110 Are yellow and are destined to the recycling of the plastic containers, cans and briks, and 120 blues, for the packaging of paper and cardboard ".

"The lumbrerenses are becoming increasingly aware of the importance of waste recycling. This improvement is partly due to the awareness campaigns that we have launched in recent months and that we will continue to promote from the Department of Sustainable Development and the Department of Services Municipal to seek greater involvement of all citizens, "explained the Councilor for Sustainable Development.

Finally, Angela Morillas stressed that "awareness, the establishment of recycling habits and the good operation and solidity of the collection systems are fundamental to continue improving the results in recycling."
