Puerto Lumbreras celebrates World Environment Day with activities for all audiences (25/05/2017)

Revegetation sessions, Music Band concert, inauguration of the Augusto Vels Park, visits to the Ecopark and visits to the Nature Interpretation Center are some of the activities included in the program.

The City Council has created a new website for citizens to know the importance of recycling and create new "Ecopuntos" in the municipality.

The Department of Sustainable Development of the City of Puerto Lumbreras has designed a schedule of activities to commemorate the World Environment Day, which is celebrated on June 5.

Specifically, more than ten initiatives make up the program that will be developed over several weeks in the municipality.

In this way, the programming started today with a visit to Ecoparque Móvil so that the children know their operation.

The students have learned how to properly separate waste with the objective of minimizing the rate of waste classified as 'improper'. It should be noted that this activity will be carried out over the next few days with the students of the four schools in the town.

The program will continue on Thursday, June 1 with the activity "in your park or in mine".

It is a day of revegetation in which, in addition to planting, children will learn how to care for plants and the importance of keeping parks and gardens clean.

On June 5, 6 and 8, children will plant trees and forest plants in parks and other public spaces to increase the green spaces of the locality, while strengthening the commitment of minors to the environment.

On 2 June, an environmental awareness campaign is planned in the weekly Friday market.

Thus, technicians of the Department of Sustainable Development will distribute information material and explain to citizens how to recycle and how to save water.

Similarly, the City Council of Puerto Lumbreras, in collaboration with Lirola, Napal and Ecoembes, has enabled a website (www.puertolumbrerasmaslimpio.es) so that citizens know the importance of recycling and how to do it.

This new website explains the basic notions of recycling and there are tips to recover cardboard, paper and light packaging in the home.

On the other hand, on Sunday June 4 will be an open day at the Interpretation Center of Nature, located in the Youth Hostel Cabezo de la Jara.

One of the most important events of this program will be the inauguration of the works of remodeling of the municipal park Augusto Vels.

The inauguration will be on June 5 from 19.00, coinciding with the celebration of the International Day of the Environment.

The children will have fun with animation workshops related to nature care.

Continuing with the programming, on June 12 will be given a talk about the natural environment in the Region of Murcia at the Institute Rambla de Nogalte.

To finalize the program, the Municipal Band of Music will offer a concert in the public park Augusto Vels.

It should be noted that the initiative "put the batteries, recycle", which will consist of the creation of "Ecopuntos", will also be launched.

Recycling bins will be distributed in public schools and municipal buildings to promote waste separation.

The Councilor for Sustainable Development, Angela Morillas, stressed that "once again we show our commitment to the environment and sustainability through a program that includes numerous activities to raise public awareness of the importance of conserving our environment, recycle and promote The use of clean energy. "The program of activities has the collaboration of CaixaBank, Ecoembes and regional government.
