The City Council of Puerto Lumbreras has received a grant of 7,280 euros, by the Autonomous Community, which will be allocated to actions aimed at prevention, monitoring and control of absenteeism and dropping out of school.
Specifically, the Consistory will develop an awareness campaign against school absenteeism in all schools of Primary and Secondary Education in the town.
The campaign, which will begin in the coming weeks, will include awareness-raising talks, in which real cases will be presented with the aim of combating school absenteeism.
The Councilor for Education, Sonia Lopez, stressed that "eliminate school absenteeism is everyone's task, the role played by families, they must support and motivate students to attend school every day."
Within this campaign, a community intervention program will be carried out with the students and families in a socio-educational disadvantage situation, thus complying with the 2012 Order of the Ministry of Education that regulates the Regional Program for Prevention, Follow-up and Control of School Truancy and Reduction of School Abandonment (PRAE Program).
Finally, the councilor stressed that "this campaign aims to continue to inform students of the negative effects of school absenteeism and educational and social resources available to children and families to combat this problem."
Note that these actions are carried out from the Department of Social Policy, in collaboration with the Department of Education of the City of Puerto Lumbreras.
