The town of Puerto Lumbreras create the figure of the Ombudsman following the unanimous adoption of a motion proposed by the Mayor of the town in the last Full Council.
According to the Mayor, Pedro Antonio Sánchez, "this new position will ensure the interests of all citizens and to ensure their rights and fundamental freedoms."
Sanchez has also explained that "the Ombudsman shall be established as a new way to listen to all lumbrerenses and implement new initiatives that benefit the municipality."
Thus, this new figure will provide mediation services, advice, information, care and assistance to citizens in their relations with local government.
In addition, the Ombudsman will mediate between the inhabitants of the municipality so require and the various organizations and agencies under the consistory.
Thus, following approval of the motion presented by the Mayor for the creation of this new figure, through the Municipal Council will elect the local person who will occupy this new position locally.
