Puerto Lumbreras presents its new cultural tourist route through the cave houses themed on the slogan 'Viewpoint of History' (19/01/2011)

The Mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Pedro Antonio Sánchez, presented this morning at the International Tourism Fair that make up the new route themed Cave Houses in Castle Nogalte environment that can be visited from Easter.

These actions are developed through the Plan for Revitalization of Tourism Products Nogalte Medina, which envisages an investment of more than 3.3 million euros for the enhancement of tourism in the locality.

The Revitalisation Plan Nogalte Medina Tourism Product is developed in cooperation with the Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Trade, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Region of Murcia, the Regional Federation of Employers of Hospitality Murcia (Hostemur ) and Medina Nogalte Tourist Consortium.

Seven spaces through Themed Cave Houses

Specifically, the themes of the cave houses situated next to Castle Nogalte, is an adaptation of tourist areas, to form a tourist-cultural route, which will be offered to visitors to learn important aspects such as the existence of a fortress Islamic caves used as dwellings for centuries, the importance of water craft to the local economy.

In this regard, Sanchez explained that "with these actions we want to make Puerto Lumbreras in a resort with a wide cultural offer in the historical site."

New route will offer walking trails for the environment Nogalte Castle and various stops in seven themed areas offer the only cave houses visited in the region of Murcia.

Craftsman House Workshop

The four caves that make up this space musealization host of occupations related to the activity of the different entities of the Association of Artisans of Puerto Lumbreras, exhibition of handicrafts and the sale to visitors.

Cave 'The Culture of Water'

Cave 'Medieval Castle Nogalte: Islamic enclave'

This cave is devoted to presenting the topics Nogalte Castle and the corridor of time Guadalentín border and archaeological research in Nogalte Castle.

Audiovisual Cave

This space will be used to accommodate a broad cultural programming throughout the year with capacity for small groups, paying particular attention to the production of local artists.

Teaching Cave

This cave is intended to support the development of educational and training activities targeted at groups organized by scheduling specific workshops related to cultural visit to the Cerro de Nogalte.
