The City Council of Puerto Lumbreras install solar photovoltaic power at more than a dozen public buildings (09/05/2010)

The initiative is part of the Local Action Plan that sets off the session after its accession to the Covenant of Mayors to promote sustainable development and environmental care.

The session has opened the tender for awarding these actions that will deploy solar panels in 15 public buildings which include schools and sports facilities.

The City Council of Puerto Lumbreras installed photovoltaic panels to supply electricity in more than a dozen public buildings to enhance energy saving.

The initiative, which will start immediately, is part of the Local Action Plan for sustainable development and environmental compliance has started the session after acceding to the Covenant of Mayors, which includes more than 60 measures this area to reduce CO2 emissions and combat climate change with a commitment to renewable and clean energy.

The performance is essentially the installation of solar photovoltaic panels to produce electricity-grid decks and city-owned buildings.

In this way, will be 15 municipal buildings and public facilities in which solar panels will be installed that will save energy.

Among the equipment is the Transportation Center, the Youth Hostel Cabezo la Jara, the Municipal Sports Complex, the Cultural Center and Municipal Library.

In addition, such installation of photovoltaic solar panels will take place in schools and preschools in the municipality.

In this sense, the Mayor, Pedro Antonio Sánchez, said that "the new Day Centre and includes solar photovoltaic system, and this measure will implement the renewable energy system in all public facilities.

This and other actions taken by the municipality are proof of the strong commitment of the current government within the framework of their local strategy for the environment. "

With this action, the municipality of Puerto Lumbreras reduce pollution through new solar panels.
