The performances, which have invested more than 600,000 euros, have helped to rehabilitate and expand the barracks of Puerto Lumbreras.

The City Council gave provisional municipal agencies to locate the Civil Guard barracks temporarily speed up work on improving and expanding the aging infrastructure.

The mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Pedro Antonio Sánchez, and the Government Delegate, Rafael González Tovar, inaugurated this morning the barracks of the Guardia Civil in which renovations have been made through an investment of 604,468 euros.

The actions have focused on the expansion and redistribution of areas to improve security services in the municipality.

"Since we have asked the council for several years and through various motions to the Interior Ministry the need to improve the barracks of the Guardia Civil in the municipality. These actions will allow a better performance of the functions of the Civil Guard in the municipality, providing greater focus and efficiency in serving citizens, "said the mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Pedro Antonio Sánchez.

Improvement works and rehabilitation of the barracks of the Guardia Civil have seen the expansion of work units located on the ground floor, with a new distribution of power according to current needs, and including new access, waiting room, guard doors to the public offices, file, or changing rooms.

On the other hand, the works have included the rehabilitation of 8 homes attached to the barracks, where spaces have been redistributed, providing them with heat and sound insulation, and improve water facilities and electricity.

For the development of the works, the session gave municipal offices to locate temporarily Civil Guard service, and thereby accelerate the improvement and rehabilitation works of the barracks.

In this regard, Sanchez pointed out that "the adequacy of the infrastructure we hope that soon will expand the staff of the Guardia Civil in Puerto Lumbreras, as we have requested on several occasions."
