The Cabezo de la Jara MTB Club, in charge of organizing the event this year, and the City Council of Puerto Lumbreras will recognize the best athletes of the year at a gala that will be held on May 25 at 9:00 pm in the street pavilion San Javier.
Personalities of the sports world and local associations will see their efforts in the last season rewarded with the delivery of these distinctions.
The Councilor for Physical Activity and Sports, Juan Rubén Burrueco, said that "the main objective of this initiative is to publicly recognize the effort of athletes and clubs in the municipality." With the organization of this type of events we also encourage the youngest, the population in general, to practice sports ".
The prize for the best absolute male athlete will be for the Lorca Club de Fútbol player, Antonio López.
Previously, Lopez was at La Hoya Lorca Club de Fútbol, ​​a team he arrived in 2013 from Levante Unión Deportiva in the First Division.
In the 2009-2011 seasons the young Lumbreren was in the Valencia Club de Fútbol, ​​after being trained in the lower categories of this team for five years.
For its part, the best female absolute athlete will be the Ucam Cartagena athlete, Ana Faucón, who finished fifth in the Heptathlon Junior Outdoor Spanish Championship.
Among his achievements in the last season as an athlete of Club Nogalte stands out the title of regional third absolute javelin throwing, junior regional runner of 200 ml, regional junior high jump champion or third regional long jump junior.
She has also been regional javelin throwing champion and heptathlon regional champion, both wins in the junior category.
"We are going to reward women and men, ambassadors of Puerto Lumbreras, who have made sport a lifestyle based on sacrifice, effort, passion and talent", explained Burrueco.
In this edition, the Enduro World Championship will be recognized as the best sporting event of the last season.
The Moto Club Nogalte was in charge of the organization of this event that was held in 2017 in the town of Lumbrerense.
This club has organized four World Cups and four Spanish Enduro Championships in Puerto Lumbreras.
The awards will also recognize the work of the Movilín Rhythmic Gymnastics Club as a Sports Entity.
Last year they managed to win the third regional position in competition internships.
This season they continue with the good rhythm being first in Liga1 with the group and third at individual level.
The children of the Lumbreras Sports Club will collect the award for the best team of the season for their promotion to the first regional category in the 2016/2017 season.
In these awards will also be extolled the figure of support for the sport, which will fall on the organizer of numerous sports events, Antonio Sánchez.
Among them are several editions of Trek 12 hours of MTB, trail tests such as the climb to the Sima del Cabezo de la Jara or the organization of duathlons.
In the individual section, and as the best athletes under 18, the athlete Maica Cuenca and the basketball player Iván Gómez will be valued.
Although Maica is currently at Ucam Cartagena, last season she achieved numerous achievements with the Nogalte Athletics Club as the seventh place in the Spanish School Championship in 100 mv in cadet category.
The former Ucam Murcia Basketball Club, Iván Gómez, who is currently in the oldest Basketball Club in the Region of Murcia (Jairis), will also be rewarded.
On the other hand, special mentions will be delivered to Juan Pérez and the Innowalk Challenge.
This last initiative was created by a group of parents and parents of students of the Special Education School Pilar Soubrier with the aim of obtaining a motorized device that would allow children to perform an assisted march.
It should be noted that each year the Sports Awards are organized by a different local sports association, in collaboration with the City Council of Puerto Lumbreras.
The people and entities awarded are chosen by an evaluation commission made up of members of the local sports entities, the Department of Sports, the media and the club organizing the gala.
