The Department of Social Policy of the City of Puerto Lumbreras has granted 22 scholarships to help families in the municipality to defray the costs of the Summer Schools and the cost of the dining service.
Specifically, 13 children aged between 6 and 11 years, belonging to families in a situation of social exclusion, benefit from a scholarship that allows them to participate for free in the Summer Schools of Puerto Lumbreras, which include sports activities, of leisure and cultural.
On the other hand, 6 children from 3 to 7 years old enjoy a scholarship to attend the Summer School of the Municipal Nursery Network, which includes a dining service with menus prepared by dietetic experts and nutritionists.
In addition, three children have received a scholarship to participate in the ADICA Summer School, aimed at people with physical, intellectual and sensory disabilities.
"With this initiative we intend to help families with fewer resources in Puerto Lumbreras, making it easier to reconcile work and family life, as well as reducing the expenses that families have to make during the non-school period," the mayor explained. from the locality, Mª Ángeles Tunisia.
The aid granted by the City Council is based on assessment criteria such as the level of family income, if the family unit is at risk of social exclusion and if the child to whom the scholarship is intended suffers from some type of disability.

The Summer Schools of Puerto Lumbreras offer various activities such as popular games, school reinforcement, English classes, craft workshops, music classes, water and sports activities such as horse riding or hiking in places of interest in the municipality.

The Summer Schools to which the scholarships have been allocated are Outdoor Activities Campus, Puerto Lumbreras Summer School, Summer School of the Municipal Nursery Network and ADICA Summer School.
