Puerto Lumbreras launches the campaign "No means no" against sexual assault (27/09/2018)

The City Council of Puerto Lumbreras, through the Department of Public Safety and the Department of Equal Opportunities, is developing a campaign against gender violence and sexual violence under the slogan "Does not mean no" on the occasion of the celebration of Festivities.

Specifically, the Consistory will carry out a series of awareness actions to promote the rejection of sexist behavior and sexual assault.

In this way, the installation of posters in visible places of the municipality is planned, as well as the distribution of 3,000 informative leaflets, stickers and bracelets.

In addition, a 'Violet Point' will be enabled at the fairgrounds at night, where attention and information will be provided on any type of sexual assault.

The 'Violet Point' will be attended by personnel of the Civil Protection and Emergencies service, after having received specific training for it.

This point is configured as a space for information and prevention of sexist attitudes and behavior against women, as well as being a space for security for victims of sexist violence.

The mayor of the town explained that "the objective of this campaign is to prevent, raise awareness and eliminate sexual violence, promoting the active involvement of the entire society, ending this social scourge is everybody's job".

From the Department of Public Safety, neighbors are encouraged to report and report the facts to the 112 Emergency telephone number or to the Local Police of Puerto Lumbreras 968 400 500 in the presence of a suspicious situation in which sexual violence may exist.

Special Security and Emergency Plan

The City Council of Puerto Lumbreras has drawn up a Security and Emergency Plan to ensure the proper development of the Fiestas in honor of the Virgen del Rosario.

The groups that form part of the Security Plan, dependent on the Department of Public Safety and in coordination with different public administrations and private companies, are integrated by Local Police, Civil Guard, Emergency Service-Civil Protection, private security, health services and firefighters.

Within the same fairground a communication channel will be installed with the Local Operative Coordination Center (CECOPAL) directed by both the mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Maria Angeles Tunisia, and the Councilor for Public Safety, Dolores Arenas.

Both will coordinate this plan formed by more than 100 people.

Thus, Cecopal will integrate all communications of personnel involved in the Emergency Plan, including its position to respond to possible situations contemplated.

Likewise, during the days of the fair a campaign hospital will be installed at the entrance of the fairgrounds and a mobile pharmacy will be enabled.

On the other hand, during the parade of floats a health care service is planned consisting of a nurse and a health technician who will travel by bicycle along the route.
