The mayor of the town, M ª Angeles Tunisia, accompanied by the Councilor for Economy and Finance, Raquel Rodríguez, today presented the municipal budgets 2019, after being approved this morning at the Municipal Plenary.

As pointed out by Tunisia "in 2019 we did not raise taxes and, even so, thanks to the good management carried out during the last years, we continue to improve public services and infrastructures".

In this sense, the latest budgets of the legislature maintain the freezing of taxes and the maintenance of bonuses and exemptions in taxes and fees, both of a business nature (as in the case of bonuses in the IAE, planning licenses and opening licenses) ;

as in social matters (benefits for large families, people with disabilities or pensioners).

As for the municipal debt, it is expected to drop by two million euros in 2019. Tunisia has stated that "this government team continues in the line of good management in its commitment to the reduction of municipal debt" and has highlighted that "In the last four years, we have reduced the debt by seven million euros, this being the biggest drop in debt that has been made at the City Council."

One of the most important items in this budget is the one for social services, which amounts to 1,400,000 euros.

In this section, the local government has the collaboration of the Autonomous Community through the agreements of the Home Help Service by Dependence, the Service of the Early Care Center, Center for people with disabilities, the Day Center for the elderly .

To all this, we must add the subsidies received by the Regional Government related to alleviate energy poverty, basic coverage for the family, integration of the Gypsy People, prevention of school absenteeism or drug dependence.

In addition to this, the Ministry of Family will significantly improve the attention to victims of gender violence with the creation of a Center for Attention to Women Victims of Gender Violence (CAVI) in Puerto Lumbreras.

On the part of the regional government, there will also be investments in tourist infrastructure, improvements in the municipal eco-park, implementation of healthy urban itineraries, creation of an Integral Vocational Training Center and a subsidy by the Employment and Training Service (SEF) of 190,847 euros.

In total, the regional government will invest 2,500,000 euros in Puerto Lumbreras.

According to the mayor explained "in these budgets we can also see reflected the importance for this government team has the maintenance of our rural roads, public roads, parks and gardens. We will continue to improve and expanding public spaces and services."

Another important pillar is investments in sports.

The budgets contemplate a game destined to the remodeling of the athletics track with an investment of close to 300,000 euros.

Similarly, the replacement of equipment in the gymnasium of the Municipal Sports Center with a budget of 40,000 euros will be made.

In the area of official and labor personnel, in addition to keeping in force the framework agreement signed with the support of all trade union organizations, reflecting the good harmony between the Consistory and the representatives of the workers, the City Council contemplates salary increases for 2019.

"We continue to work so that the administration is closer to the citizen every day, therefore, we continue to allocate an amount of money to participatory budgets," said Mª Ángeles Túnez.

With this, what is intended is to encourage citizen participation and that they can decide on what to invest public money.

The participatory budgets are framed within the Transparency and Citizen Participation Plan, launched by the City Council of Puerto Lumbreras to improve the quality of municipal management.

In short, Tunisia has concluded that "these are budgets based on austerity, control, reducing spending and improving the quality of life of all Lumbrerenses, budgets that build trust again, because we continue to work by and for people. "
