The City Council promotes the integration of people at risk of social exclusion (15/02/2019)

More than 700 Lumbrerenses, in a situation of social difficulty, can benefit from the training actions of the Gypsy Development Plan, promoted by the City Council of Puerto Lumbreras.

Until the end of May, recipients of this plan can receive free training in several workshops, which will allow them to improve their qualifications and have more opportunities to access the labor market.

Among the training initiatives is a workshop for cleaning buildings and open spaces, which will run from March to May in the morning at the Youth Space, and which will enable students to perform tasks related to cleaning floors, walls , ceilings, furniture, glass and surface treatment.

On the other hand, they will also have the opportunity to learn the trade of hairdressing, as well as participate in a shoe repair workshop or a plasterer course, which will allow them to acquire the necessary knowledge for the proper performance of the trade.

"The objective of these actions is to promote the promotion of the collective, its development, participation and social integration, while preventing social exclusion and improving the qualification and access to employment," said the mayor of the town, Mª Ángeles Tunisia.

In addition to this, children from 4 to 10 years in vulnerable situations also have at their disposal a playroom.

The purpose of this service is to support students in school reinforcement tasks and strengthen the knowledge acquired in their schools.

In addition, recreational activities are also developed that favor personal relationships and contribute to the motivation and involvement of the child with daily attendance at school, thus avoiding absenteeism and school failure.

The playroom service is held at the premises of the old Sacred Heart school from Monday to Friday from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.

Finally, the Plan includes the realization of an awareness campaign that will be launched in April, coinciding with the celebration of the International Day of the Gypsy People.

It should be noted that the Gypsy Development Plan, which has been carried out for five years in the town, is launched by the Department of Social Policy, through Social Services, in collaboration with the Murcia Institute of Social Action (Imas) of the regional government and the Ministry of Health, Social Services and Equality.
