The students of the Purísima Concepción school benefit from the program 'Samsung Smart School' (25/04/2019)

The project contributes to increase school success and facilitate student learning through the integration of new technologies

The public school Purísima Concepción of the Lumbrerense hamlet of La Estación-Esparragal is part of the national project 'Samsung Smart School', being one of the only two centers in the Region of Murcia included in this program.

The Councilor for Education, Sonia López, and the general director of Attention to Diversity and Educational Quality, Francisco José Martínez, along with the delegates of Samsung Ibérica, visited the students participating in the program.

'Samsung Smart School', whose aim is to help improve the teaching process through the integration of technology in the classroom, offers teachers the necessary tools to ensure the success of the digital transformation of the classroom.

Another objective of the program is to reduce the possible digital divide and facilitate access to education, so that the centers chosen to participate in the program are mostly those located in less digitized areas.

This initiative is considered a resource of support, since the students keep the textbooks and continue to do the exams on paper.

The Councilor for Education, Sonia Lopez, stressed that "it is a pride for our municipality that all schools in Puerto Lumbreras continue to advance, becoming bilingual, and at the same time adhere to national programs to continue improving the educational quality of the students".

In addition, Lopez added "this project, which contributes to increase school success and facilitate student learning, has no cost to families."

The Samsung company offers computer equipment to students of fifth and sixth year of Primary Education to be able to digitally deliver the contents.

It also includes the software necessary to apply new technologies to teaching.

Each student has a Samsung tablet of the latest generation and classroom management software.

For the classroom, the company hands over a cargo locker and a large television.

Likewise, the National Institute of Educational Technologies and Teacher Training (INTEF) of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports offers training for the teaching team involved in the project.

The students participating in this project collaborate annually with other centers in different parts of the Spanish geography, enriching the experience that technology brings in the classrooms with the sharing of what they have learned with other students like them.

The Samsung Smart School project began in the 2014/15 academic year as a result of a collaboration agreement between the Corporate Citizenship Department of Samsung and the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports, to which the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Ministry of Education adhered. the Region of Murcia.

There are two adhered centers in each autonomous community.

The project works to improve education through the integration of technology as a tool that helps sustain the methodological change, and adapts the education and capacities of students to the society of the 21st century.

During the last five years 'Samsung Smart School' has reached more than 600 teachers and 4,000 students in 108 classrooms of 34 Spanish educational centers.
