The Civil Guard, the Méndez Parada Military School and the Brotherhood of Nuestro Padre Jesús Nazareno, will be awarded on July 7 in the Independence Day Act (26/06/2019)

The municipality of Puerto Lumbreras will hold on July 7 the Institutional Act on the occasion of the 61st anniversary of the independence of Puerto Lumbreras, in an act in which distinctions and recognitions are awarded to individuals and institutions that have stood out in the last year in the municipality, by joint motion of the municipal groups of the City Council of Puerto Lumbreras.

Seven will be the distinctions that are delivered, of which some of them can already be revealed.

And it is that the Body of the Civil Guard will be decorated with the Gold Medal of the City in the 175 anniversary of its foundation.

Its more than 175 years of continuous history, without altering its name, give it the status of the oldest police force in Spain, regardless of its scope (national or regional).

Likewise, the Civil Guard is the police force with the largest number of agents in Spain.

It also has the largest territorial deployment and number of police competitions

On the other hand, the Méndez Parada Military School of Parachute Sewer, will be awarded on the other hand with the Diploma of Distinguished Services, for their collaboration in the Holy Week of Puerto Lumbreras.

Founded in 1947, In the year 1978, after a process of integration of the units located in the aerodrome, the school acquires the name that remains at present: Military School Parachute Mendez Parada. In 1993 with the establishment of a new classification for the air bases and military aerodromes in the Air Force, the Sewer Military Aerodrome was definitively named Sewer Air Base.

And the Brotherhood of Nuestro Padre Jesús Nazareno and María Santísima de la Esperanza will be recognized with the Silver Medal of the City, on the 20th anniversary of its foundation.

His first year of procession was the Holy Wednesday of Holy Week in 1997, under the presidency of D. Francisco Gómez.

The image of Our Father Jesus Nazareno is the holder of the Brotherhood, carried in adas by 44 costaleros.

Over the years the brotherhood grows, the number of brothers increases and it is in 2010 when a new procession image is commissioned to join the Holy Week parade. Begin to walk the streets of Puerto Lumbreras María Santísima de la Hope.

After the first years of the brotherhood under the presidency of Francisco Gómez, different presidents have taken over;

María Antonia Robles, Ginita Gómez and current President Sergio Soler Marín.

Also plays a very important role the musical group of the brotherhood, consisting of amateur musicians, who put desire, time and enthusiasm to the different melodies that they interpret in honor of the images of the brotherhood and that together with the bolts put the musical note of the Holy Wednesday parade.
