Today, the Local Bureau for the Coordination against Gender Violence has met with the objective of planning new measures regarding prevention and taking stock of the actions carried out in recent months.
Among the items on the agenda were the exposition of the deficiencies and problems that are found on a daily basis in each area, as well as the coordination protocol between the entities and services involved for the protection of victims of gender-based violence in Puerto Lumbreras.
In addition, possible proposals, exchange of experiences and good practices have been put on the table.
Among those attending the meeting were the local mayor, MÂª Ángeles Tunisia, the Councilor for Women, Toñi Navarro, the Councilor for Education and Youth, José Manuel Sánchez, responsible for the Office of violence against women in Murcia de la Delegation of the Government and the General Directorate of Women and Gender Diversity of the CARM, workers of the CAVI, the Chief Head of the Local Police, the Commander of the Civil Guard Post of Puerto Lumbreras, the Emergency Service, and those responsible of the educational centers, among others.
The general objective of the Local Coordination Board is the promotion, at the municipal level, of policies and actions for the eradication of gender violence.
The mayor explained that "the lines of action that we are following are based on raising awareness, prevention and improvement of coordination in protection and safety for victims."
In the year 2019, 86 women have been treated until last October at the Center for Assistance to Women Victims of Gender Violence (CAVI) of Puerto Lumbreras.
Of these, 50 are registered from previous years and 36 women are new to CAVI this year.
The total number of interventions performed at the CAVI in 2019 is 637, and the total number of files from 2010 to 2019 is 250.
MÂª Ángeles Tunisia stressed that â€œthe Local Bureau against Gender Violence will continue to meet for the study and implementation of educational and awareness-raising measures, which will allow to improve the early detection of cases and provide for an agile and effective response to victims Township".
