The Astronomical Observatory of Puerto Lumbreras doubles its visitors in the last 3 years (18/01/2020)

It is the only place in the Region of Murcia certified as Starlight Star Park for the quality of its night skies and clean atmosphere, which guarantees perfect visibility in 90% of summer nights

Currently, scheduled guided night tours are 100% full of the Observatory's capacity, and for a few months the schedules have been extended to 2 shifts

The Astronomical Observatory of the Cabezo de la Jara in Puerto Lumbreras has almost doubled in the last 3 years (2017-2018-2019) the number of visitors who have visited its facilities, going from about 3000 people in the 2013-2015 period to 5800 in This last triennium.

Currently, the scheduled guided night visits are 100% full of the Observatory's capacity, and for a few months it has been extended to 2 shifts at different times, each day of the scheduled visit.

The Astronomical Observatory of the Cabezo de la Jara, since its expansion and improvement of the facilities, has an audiovisual room with a capacity for 60 people, a terrace with poyetes to sit and visualize the sky with the naked eye, an automated dome equipped with a MEADE LX 200 14 "telescope, and an H-Alpha MEADE SolarMaxll 90 solar telescope.

It is located 7 km.

Puerto Lumbreras in a natural setting, at an altitude of 736 meters and in an open space, with great sky quality thanks to its low light pollution.

It is a perfect enclave for the observation of the sky, and Puerto Lumbreras is the only place in the Region of Murcia certified as Starlight Star Park for the quality of its night skies and its clean atmosphere, which guarantees perfect visibility in 90% of Summer nights

It also has a high quality solar telescope for daytime activities.

Daytime visits to the Observatory are also made, especially with schoolchildren, and guided night visits by professional astronomers.

These activities can be complemented with the realization of the "Astronomical Path" that represents the Solar System at scale, including 2 solar clocks and a lunar one;

an easy 1.8 km trail.
