The City Council asks the Mancomunidad de Canales del Taibilla to replace the pipeline that supplies several neighborhoods of Puerto Lumbreras due to the great damage to the population (21/02/2020)

The City Council of Puerto Lumbreras has requested an urgent meeting to the Mancomunidad de Canales del Taibilla, owner of the drinking water supply network located on Orfeón Fernández Caballero street, with the aim of requiring this agency, under the Ministry for Transition Ecological, the substitution of that conduction for the great damage that it supposes for the population and for the municipality in general.

It is a general pipeline that supplies about 3000 residents of the neighborhoods of Los Limoneros, San Juan, the area of the funeral home, El Cortijico, and the rural area from Carretera del Esparragal to the hermitage of La Purísima Concepción, which has suffered five faults important in less than 2 years, the last being last January 25 and February 18, and causing breakage in the municipal water supply network and consequently the prolonged cut of the water supply in the affected areas.

According to the Councilor for Agriculture, Livestock, Water and Sustainable Development, César Gázquez, "it is a pipe that is over 35 years old, which makes its deterioration important. We are going to ask the Taibilla Channels Commonwealth for replacement and to make investments in Puerto Lumbreras, since the service it currently provides is deficient, causing serious inconvenience to thousands of citizens.
