The Puerto Lumbreras City Council approves requesting the repair of the Camino Cañada de Alba and the service roads of the A-7 (29/07/2020)

By means of an amendment by the PSOE, the City Council approves the inclusion of the Camino de la Cañada de Alba in the next call for road arrangements of the General Directorate of Agricultural and Forest Development. In the municipal plenary session held on July 28, the Socialist Party has included an amendment to a motion by the unapplied councilor, elected by Izquierda Unida-Verdes for the improvement of another road in the area.

This amendment commits the Puerto Lumbreras City Council to the need for an integrated rehabilitation of the Camino de la Cañada de Alba and the service road of the A-7, on its west side. As explained by the socialist spokesperson, María Rosa García: "The great agricultural and livestock expansion that is taking place in the Puerto Adentro area is a very important source of income for our municipality, but at the same time it requires new and improved means of communication to accompany this strong growth.

" The area is transited daily by thousands of vehicles, the vast majority heavy trucks, forcing these roads to endure technical conditions for which they were not designed at the time.

The overload of these means that their deterioration accelerates, or that adequate maintenance is almost unfeasible; not forgetting that they have a width of road not suitable for large vehicles. The service road, on its west side, is not technically prepared for the volume of heavy traffic it supports, requiring reinforcement of the pavement, and an extension of its tread, in accordance with the vehicles that pass through it. The Camino de la Cañada de Alba is the link of all agricultural and livestock activity on the east side of the A-7.

This road, on which repair work has been carried out relatively recently, is completely destroyed, having made its adaptation without taking into account the density of traffic it supported, and the extremely important number of heavy vehicles that use it.

daily, density that has grown exponentially in recent years. According to María Rosa García: "The strong expansion of the area leads us to the need to rebuild this road, the backbone of agricultural activity, with technical conditions that allow its use with safety and durability."
