| The Secretary General of the Ministry visits the works that also involve an expansion of staff with two doctors and two nurses | The Puerto Lumbreras health center is under construction to expand it and provide it with four new consultations, which will result in better health care for residents of the area. The secretary general of the Ministry of Health, Andrés Torrente, and the general director of Health Assistance of the Murcian Health Service, Inmaculada Barceló, together with the mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, María Ángeles Túnez, visited this Primary Care center today. The expansion of these facilities also makes it possible to provide more staff to the center, specifically two doctors and a nurse, already incorporated into this care point, plus another nurse who will join the team in October.

The staff currently consists of nine family doctors, three pediatricians and six nurses, in addition to five administrative assistants, two nursing assistants, a caretaker, a physiotherapist, a midwife and a dentist. The improvement, expansion and conditioning works of the Puerto Lumbreras health center consist of the reorganization of the space on the ground floor, originally intended as a meeting room, changing rooms and facilities rooms, in order to implement four new consultations, relocate the room of meetings and provide a changing room, with adapted toilet, for the physiotherapy service.

These works involve an investment of more than 41,000 euros and have an execution period of three months, which will end in mid-October. This center, head of the Basic Health Zone number 49 of Puerto Lumbreras, on which clinics depend in turn, cares for a population of 15,394 inhabitants and offers the services of family medicine, pediatrics, nursing, gynecological support unit, collection of samples, dentistry, oral health unit, midwife and social work. The works will provide the health center with the possibility of having adequate spaces for patient care, which were not previously available, and of expanding the workforce if necessary, which will facilitate a better organization of the services provided.
