National rescue plan for the hotel industry (07/11/2020)

| The municipal group of the PP demands the urgent implementation of a national rescue plan for the hotel industry | The municipal group of the Popular Party in the Puerto Lumbreras City Council will take a full motion so that from the Lumbrerense consistory the Governing Council of the Region of Murcia is urged to request the Government of the Nation to launch as a matter of urgency a national rescue plan for the hospitality industry in the face of the economic consequences of the second wave of COVID-19.The current situation of the health crisis in the Region of Murcia is very worrying, in recent days reaching more than 1000 infections in one day.Given these data and to avoid the collapse of our hospitals and the dire consequences that it would entail, the Epidemiology Service of the Ministry of Health considered it essential to adopt very drastic measures to reduce social interaction such as the closure of the hotel business for 14 days and make a Urgent appeal to citizens not to leave home more than is strictly necessary. The regional government, in record time, announced a rescue plan for the hotel industry, with non-refundable aid so that bars and restaurants can meet the costs of rent, perishable products or the real estate tax (IBI) for the time it lasts this closure.Never before has a Regional Government adopted a rescue plan of this magnitude, with 37 million euros in aid.And this despite all the economic difficulties that the Region is facing, already under-financed and at the bottom of all the economic aid from the Government of Spain. In addition, the City Council of Puerto Lumbreras will allocate 90,000 euros in direct aid to the hospitality industry, the expansion of terraces and enclosures will be possible, and the occupancy rate of public spaces will be suspended during the first half of 2021 (while last the State of Alarm), among other actions that are part of the second package of economic measures approved to help the self-employed and SMEs to cope with the effects of the pandemic."It is time for all administrations to be responsible.

The government of Spain cannot, neither look the other way, nor hide and leave the citizens alone.

It cannot evade its responsibility and discharge it in the Autonomous Communities that are suffering from the most absolute abandonment, "says the councilor of the popular municipal group; Rocío Martínez."A national rescue plan for the sector must be urgently approved.

We request that this plan include non-refundable aid for hoteliers and an injection of liquidity to help them maintain their business during the time they have no income, the application of the Super-reduced VAT to the hospitality sector, extend ERTEs and aid for cessation of activity until at least May 2021, moratorium and tax exemption for companies without income while the state of alarm is in force, extend the flat rate for six months to all self-employed hoteliers who are covered by it, or reduce Social Security contributions for self-employed hospitality workers based on the reduction in income they suffer,Among other measures of a fiscal and tax nature that cannot be waived to help maintain the sector and jobs, "says Martínez.
