The City Council of Puerto Lumbreras initiates a campaign to prevent the tiger mosquito (03/03/2016)

The City Council of Puerto Lumbreras, through the Department of Health, has launched a preventive campaign against the mosquito tiger in the municipality.

The councilman of Health, Andres Lopez and Councilman Public Spaces, Juan Francisco Carrillo, have overseen this morning the work being done by the company disinfection in the municipality.

Specifically, the campaign includes performances disinfection in different parts of the city such as parks and gardens, as well as distribution of information material in the weekly Friday market and public buildings in the town.

Similarly, periodic reviews will be made public sources, treatment will run with larvicide to water accumulations in public spaces and inspected preventive public buildings to eliminate and / or treat any water accumulation.

The councilman of Health, Andrés López, stressed that "it is important the collaboration of citizens, as must all adopt preventive measures to avoid the reproduction and spread of these insects."

Thus, the conejal explained that "it is performing simple tasks like emptying each week containers that hold water such as vases, pots or vases."

Moreover, he added that "should be placed upside down containers that can collect rainwater as buckets, ashtrays, showers or kitchen equipment."

The tiger mosquito is a mosquito larvae arising from living in small clusters of standing water for at least a week.

The tiger mosquito sting usually preferably at dusk and dawn, especially in the parts closest to the ground as the legs and feet.

Some tips to avoid mosquito bites is to wear light tiger, use specific skin repellents and install screens on doors and windows.

Finally, the conejal of Health stressed that "the objective of this campaign is to reduce the appearance of the tiger mosquito and minimize its spread in our municipality."
