Puerto Lumbreras celebrates World Water Day with lectures and guided visits new water infrastructure (18/03/2016)

Throughout this week they are being given briefings on responsible water use in schools.

Next March 22 is scheduled the opening of a new water infrastructure, located in the Casa del Cura, which reproduces the use and operation of a water well.

The City Council will distribute more than 2,000 water atomizers in order to encourage savings.

The City Council of Puerto Lumbreras, through the Department of Agriculture, Water and districts, has designed a new program of activities to mark World Water Day, celebrated on 22 March.

In this sense, more than 400 students from public schools in the municipality and the Rambla de Nogalte Institute will participate in scheduled activities that promote social awareness and good habits in water use.

Specifically, throughout this week they are giving briefings on responsible water use in schools in the locality.

In addition, the City will distribute more than 2,000 water atomizers in order to encourage savings.

These are small devices that are screwed into the mouths of taps and can save up to 50% of water consumption.

On the other hand, within the program of activities next March 22 is scheduled the opening of a new water infrastructure, located in the Casa del Cura, which reproduces the use and operation of a water well.

So that afternoon from 17.00 guided by the new infrastructure by the former tenants of the Casa del Cura visits will take place.

In addition, a child's play under the theme "Water and Life" and there will be traditional games and activities for children in the vicinity of the Casa del Cura is performed.

Similarly, from 29 March to 1 April they are scheduled guided students in four public schools in the locality visits.

In this visit, children will learn the operation of water infrastructure and the various elements that compose it.

New water infrastructure

The mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Maria Angeles Tunisia, explained that "with the recreation of this infrastructure what we want is to bring and to inform children and young people the traditions and lifestyles of their ancestors while learning operation a system of collection, storage and distribution of water, typical of traditional agriculture in our municipality. "

Significantly, the new infrastructure has a budget of 39,525, 33 euros, 31,482.72 euros funded by the Association for the Integral Development Campodos.
