Inaugurated the new hydraulic infrastructure of the Casa del Cura (22/03/2016)

The ceremony was attended by the mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Maria Angeles Tunisia, the general director of Water, Andres Martinez and Campodos manager, Miguel Buendia.

The day has had guided tours of the new hydraulic infrastructure and ethnographic agriculture and livestock room visits.

Coinciding with the celebration of World Water Day, the City of Puerto Lumbreras has inaugurated the new hydraulic infrastructure located in the Casa del Cura.

The ceremony was attended by the mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Maria Angeles Tunisia, the general director of Water, Andres Martinez and Campodos manager, Miguel Buendia.

Thus, a system has been built to scale which has various elements such as a well which through a gear wheel that drives the water removed in a alcántaras thereof.

From this point, it is channeled into a typical Puerto Lumbreras traditional water tank and from this cistern and an aqueduct, is channeled towards a traditional mill where flour was ground and from there to a traditional laundry and finally, towards a system irrigation through ditches for irrigation land.

Specifically, more than fifty people attended the open house, where adults and children have been able to see the operation of a system of collection, storage and distribution of water, typical of traditional agriculture of Puerto Lumbreras.

The day has had guided ethnographic agriculture and livestock room and new water infrastructure by unique characters, representing the former tenants of the Casa del Cura visits.

Similarly, it has also made a children's puppet theater under the theme "Water and Life" and children have enjoyed traditional games and activities in the vicinity of the Casa del Cura.

The mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Maria Angeles Tunisia, explained that "with the recreation of this infrastructure what we want is to bring and to inform children and young people the traditions and lifestyles of their ancestors while learning operation traditional systems like a ferris wheel, a water tank or a mill ".

Note that this new water infrastructure has a budget of 39,525, 33 euros, of which 31,482.72 euros have been subsidized by the Association for the Integral Development Campodos.
