The mayor of Puerto Lumbreras participates in the Assembly of the Spanish Network of Healthy Cities (22/04/2016)

Maria Angeles Tunisia has participated in a panel discussion on the "Nuphyco" national project, which assesses the status of the elderly in the village.

In the General Assembly he has gathered the elected representatives of the associated municipalities Network, currently composed of 157 local authorities.

The mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Maria Angeles Tunisia, has participated this morning in the Assembly of the Spanish Network of Healthy Cities (RECS), integrated within the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces, which was held during 21 and 22 April in Cordoba.

Specifically, the Mayor gave a presentation in the framework of this conference on the promotion of healthy habits.

Thus, Maria Angeles Tunisia has participated in a panel discussion on the "Nuphyco" national project, which assesses the status of the elderly in the village.

Thus, the mayor told attendees the local experience of this project, the actions that are being developed and results.

For several months we have conducted a study in Puerto Lumbreras in order to know the quality of life related to health and affective cognitive nutritional and functional status of the population over 70 years and the adequacy of resources healthy life of the town.

To do this, they have been conducted telephone surveys to obtain relevant and valid information regarding lumbrerense aging population.

Thus, the City Council of Puerto Lumbreras has obtained a customized report of the current situation of the population in the municipality, which facilitates the implementation of new, more specific and appropriate for the elderly of the town policies.

Maria Angeles Tunisia explained that "in the case of Puerto Lumbreras, the findings suggest that we remain committed to promoting physical exercise, diet and healthy habits among older people."

Moreover, he added that "Puerto Lumbreras has a wide range of services and programs designed especially for our seniors and we will continue working on this line to offer more choices of leisure, culture and entertainment to our elders, while we increase social participation through major associations.

In this sense, the mayor has emphasized that "the council aims to continue improving and adapting their services to the needs of older people so they can enjoy a good quality of life and participate in society fully and actively ".

It notes that in the General Assembly have gathered the elected representatives of the associated municipalities Network, currently composed of 157 local authorities -156 municipalities and provincial council and proceeded to the approval of the proposal of the 14 vowels Governing Council of the RECS.
