The mayor and the Minister of Presidency have signed an agreement in which the commitment is established for citizen participation between the Ministry and the Municipality of Puerto Lumbreras.
The City Council of Puerto Lumbreras adheres to this regional initiative that is promoted and coordinated actions on citizen participation.
During the meeting they have agreed the celebration of Europe Week in the municipality with various activities such as lectures and exhibitions, coinciding with the 30th anniversary of the entry of Spain into the European Union.
The mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Maria Angeles Tunisia, and the Minister of Presidency, Maria Dolores Pagán, this morning signed an agreement in which the commitment is established for citizen participation between the Ministry of Presidency of the Autonomous Region Murcia and the city of Puerto Lumbreras.
After signing the agreement, the City of Puerto Lumbreras adheres to this regional initiative that is promoted and coordinated actions on citizen participation experiences between administrations are exchanged and joint actions are proposed with the aim of promoting the involvement of society in public life.
In this sense, the Municipality of Puerto Lumbreras commitment to update the rules in order to promote an active and effective participation of citizens in public policy, and to facilitate public participation processes before launching public measures special interest to the population.
Similarly, through this agreement, the council will promote citizen participation instruments for the effective participation of citizens in decision-making processes and promote a Code of Good Governance of the elected City Council.
For its part, the Autonomous Community, through the Ministry of the Presidency, undertakes to support and advise on the implementation and development of municipal regulations adapted to encourage citizen participation, and provide a space in the Portal Transparency community link to web portal municipal transparency of the city of Puerto Lumbreras.
The mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Maria Angeles Tunisia, stressed that "recent times do we change the ways of governing, and therefore we promote an agile, efficient, participatory and transparent administration."
Moreover, he added that "the municipality is the administration closer to the citizen and we must put in place the necessary mechanism to encourage participation of residents in decision-making."
In this regard, Tunisia added that "we already have a new web portal for transparency and a specific council of citizen participation. In this line is where we want to continue working to increase the channels of participation and transparency in our management."
It should be noted that after signing the agreement, the mayor of Puerto Lumbreras and the Minister of Presidency have held a working meeting, which was also attended by members of their respective teams of government.
