Children who have celebrated their First Holy Communion this year in Puerto Lumbreras yesterday were the protagonists of the traditional Corpus Christi procession, which continues to consolidate in the municipality.
At 20.00h came the procession from Mrs. Ntra Church.. Del Rosario who toured some of the main streets of the old town accompanied by the Municipal Band.
In addition, children of First Communion were making stops on the tour in the Altares, as did the children of the village of La Esparragal Station, where the Corpus Christi procession was also held.
As a novelty, coinciding with the celebration of the Feast of Corpus Christi, the City of Puerto Lumbreras, through the Department of Culture and Tourism, he organized the first edition of Altars and Balconies Competition.
Specifically, 10 altars and balconies were decorated yesterday for the occasion, which was no lack of eucharistic references.
Thus, the winners have been Isabel Miravete (category altar), Brotherhood Cristo de la Fe (category altar) and Paqui Segovia (category balcony).
Holders of the altars and the award-winning balcony will be presented with a framed photo of his altar or balcony, a trophy handmade ceramic and a diploma.
Notably, the jury took into account the artistic quality of the facilities and the maintenance of traditional elements in the adornment of altars and balconces.
The jury was composed of representatives of the City, the City Council of Guilds and Cultural Associations of the municipality.
Councillor for Culture, Maria Victoria Jerez, thanked the effort made by all participants of the contest "to help decorate the route of the procession of Corpus our municipality."
