It has been informed of the activities carried out in the environment in the past year, as well as the redrafting of the General Municipal Development Plan of Puerto Lumbreras in relation to the environment.
The Sectoral Council for Sustainable Development has met to discuss the measures that have been implemented in this area in the municipality, as well as to promote new initiatives in urban and environmental planning and management.
Specifically, it has been informed of the activities carried out in the environment in the past year, as well as the redrafting of the General Municipal Development Plan of Puerto Lumbreras in relation to the environment.
Similarly, members of the Sectoral Council also addressed the areas classified as SCI (Sites of Community Importance) and the need to develop an Integrated Management Plan.
In this regard, the Sectoral Council was chaired by the mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Maria Angeles Tunisia, who stressed that "we have convened this sector council to increase citizen participation in decision-making related to environmental management."
Notably, the Sectoral Council for Sustainable Development is an advisory body for citizen participation, in which citizens are represented through the main social and institutional groups in the municipality.
The functions of the Sectoral Council for Sustainable Development is to report on municipal initiatives on Environment in Puerto Lumbreras, advise the local government on matters related to the environment, and issue reports on this subject as may be requested by the City Council Puerto Lumbreras, the Ministry of Water, Agriculture and Environment or any other department that requires it.
Moreover, in this Council the ideas that nourish the environmental project of the municipality, with different experiences and initiatives that contribute by their members are collected.
