More than 60 craftsmen exhibit their products in the Medieval Market and Fair of Local Crafts Puerto Lumbreras (08/10/2016)

The Medieval Market and Local Craft Fair will be held from Friday 7 to Sunday 9 October on the occasion of the Festivities 2016, held in honor of the Virgen del Rosario.

Thus, lumbrerenses and visitors can enjoy a large sample of craft products of all kinds, exhibitions of old crafts and other fun activities and entertainment for all ages.

The mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Maria Angeles Tunisia, the Councillor of Commerce, Angela Morillas, and the Councillor for Culture, Maria Victoria Jerez, inaugurated yesterday the Medieval Market and Craft Fair, accompanied by Queen Mayor and the Child Queen of 2016 Fiestas and her bridesmaids.

During the opening they visited the booths installed for the occasion to welcome the work of 10 local artisans and more than 50 artisans coming from different points of the Spanish geography.

Thus, more than 60 artisans exhibit and sell their products during the three-day fair.

Visitors can enjoy a varied and rich selection of handicrafts such as paintings, sweets, handmade soaps and cosmetics, work in esparto, embroidery, toys, minerals, herbs or flowers among many other products.

Similarly, typical products of local craftsmanship that is characterized by using local materials from the region to develop their products are displayed, and for using manual techniques away and production in series, thus wood working, stone , ceramics, glass, cane and esparto.

On the other hand, it should be noted that during the three days of exhibits and demonstrations of trades that develop craft as collecting honey, sausage making or making a loom colorful embroidery are made.

Thus, the ancient craft demonstrations of falconry and operation of an alembic where artisans are distilled liquors are also performed.

The Medieval Market and Craft Fair includes various leisure and entertainment for visitors of all ages.

So it has a typical medieval tavern where you can taste wines and grilled meats, an Arabic tearoom or workshop area with inflatables and children's entertainment and carousel, among others.

It should be noted that an animated show with fire took place during the opening day and more than 200 lanterns were launched to the sky to illuminate the Gardens of San Rafael at dusk.

Also, different medieval characters toured the Craft Fair visitors telling stories accompanied by music from medieval times.
