The opening of the Juan Antonio López Alcaraz school in Puerto Lumbreras with 6 new classrooms for primary education has been inaugurated (02/02/2017)

The Juan Antonio López Alcaraz primary and secondary education center in Puerto Lumbreras is expanding with 6 new primary education classrooms.

The Minister of Education and Universities, María Isabel Sánchez-Mora, accompanied by the mayor of the town, Mª Ángeles Tunis, inaugurated today the new facilities in which a total of 350,000 euros have been invested.

Sánchez-Mora reiterated the "commitment of the regional government to the educational community to continue improving infrastructures, adapting and expanding centers according to the needs of schooling."

An additional plant has been built on the infant module to enable seven primary classrooms, communicated through a walkway linking the first floor of the module and the main building.

In addition, stairs are attached to the module for evacuation in case of fire.

In addition to the new classrooms, a meeting room has been set up for teachers, tutorials, a warehouse and the corresponding toilets, including one for people with disabilities.

The building had an area of 559 square meters, which after enlargement reaches 1,169 square meters.

In the ground floor of the building the layout of the spaces remains unchanged and only changes the use of the cleaning room, which happens to house the heating, with an air-water heat pump system.

The Minister of Education and Universities, María Isabel Sánchez-Mora, said that "it is an extension that allows to install a new line of primary education and makes the whole of the school a functional building that adapts to the needs of the center."

The Ministry of Education this year will invest around 20 million euros in infrastructure, the objective is, as explained Sánchez-Mora, "to have schools and institutes more comfortable for teaching teachers and student learning."

Specifically, new centers will be built, such as the Sagrado Corazón de Librilla school, La Aljorra school in Cartagena and Prince Felipe de Jumilla, or the extension of Pascual Pérez Abellán de Pliego, among others.

In addition, will proceed to the integral remodeling of the institutes Alfonso X and Miguel de Cervantes de Murcia and Sanje de Alcantarilla.

The Minister recalled that "the regional government carries out actions to improve infrastructure throughout the year."
