The Guardia Civil seizes more than 9,000 packets of baby wipes in Puerto Lumbreras (08/02/2017)

The products seized, valued at 12,000 euros, were distributed through a company of Puerto Lumbreras in shops of the municipality and Lorca

It is a trademark that has not yet been marketed in Spain

The Civil Guard of the Region of Murcia has developed an investigation aimed at clarifying the origin of several thousand packages of baby wipes that were on sale in different shops in Puerto Lumbreras and Lorca.

Some actions that have culminated with a person investigated as presumed author of a crime of receipt.

In an industrial warehouse in Puerto Lumbreras have been confiscated 9,216 packets of baby wipes, valued at 12,000 euros, that left Malaga to Murcia without being paid by the buyer.

The investigation began last January, when the Civil Guard detected the sale, in different shops of Puerto Lumbreras and Lorca, of a merchandise that showed signs of illicit origin.

The Civil Guard found that in the province of Malaga had been denounced the misappropriation of large quantities of packages of baby wipes by a company in the area that allegedly acquired them without paying the cost.

The Guardia Civil was aware that, until now, the commercial brand of the products had not been marketed in Spain, so that a series of surveillance and inspections were established, which enabled four businesses in Puerto Lumbreras (3) and Lorca ( 1), the sale of packages of wipes for a price lower than the real.

The research carried out has led the researchers to the company that supplied the products to the different establishments for sale to the public which, moreover, offered through an Internet portal.

As a result of the investigations, the investigators have located an industrial warehouse where a total of 9,216 packages of baby wipes have been located and seized for commercialization.

The Civil Guard has identified the owner of the merchandise that, at the request of the agents, has not been able to document their legal possession, lacking invoices or proofs that could prove their purchase through authorized channels, and has been investigated as Alleged offender.

Specialists from the Tax Service of the Guardia Civil have also processed the corresponding complaints for administrative infractions related to the lack of labeling of other series of products, put on sale in the businesses investigated.

The operation has culminated in the seizure of 9,216 packages of baby hygiene wipes, which remain deposited at the disposal of the judicial authority.

The person investigated, the effects intervened and the investigations have been made available to the Court of Instruction of Lorca.
