The participants have made a journey that is designed to highlight the different techniques of water utilization in these lands, in which terraces and bleeders have been rehabilitated.
Participants have enjoyed a route guided by the botanical and water use trail, located in the surroundings of Cabezo de la Jara.
The day began at 10:00 am with a visit to the Interpretation Center of Nature located in the Youth Hostel to continue with the route that has lasted for approximately 90 minutes.
The trail has a length of 1,800 meters and runs through an area of ​​low mountain repopulated with carrasco pine.
The route is designed to highlight the different techniques of water utilization in these lands, where terraces and bleeders have been rehabilitated to understand the operation of this system, in addition to highlighting the different water storage systems such as the well and the trough , Located in the middle of the route.
Likewise, during the tour the attendees have been able to contemplate the botanical species most representative of the area, with a total of 16 native species, among which are Junquera, Encina and Enebro.
"Water in Puerto Lumbreras has always been a scarce commodity and its use is fundamental for cultivation, so a great number of irrigation techniques have been put in place over the years," explained the Councilor for Agriculture , Livestock, Water and Pedanias, José María Parra.
Finally, it should be noted that this activity is part of the program of activities organized by the City of Puerto Lumbreras on the occasion of the International Water Day.
