The urban regeneration project in Puerto Lumbreras allows 64 families to rehabilitate their homes (21/04/2017)

The actions include works to improve the structure of the building, roofs, facades, foundations, roofs and common elements

The regeneration and urban renewal area (ARRU) project of the Housing Plan 2013-2016 has made it possible for 64 families in the municipality of Puerto Lumbreras to receive aid amounting to more than 111,000 euros to rehabilitate their homes.

The director general of Planning, Architecture and Housing, Nuria Fuentes, and the mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, María Ángeles Tunisia, today visited the works being carried out and which consist mainly of improving the conservation of the structure of the building, Facades, foundations, roofs and common elements, as well as carrying out actions to increase energy efficiency, by replacing carpentry and glazing that increase the thermal insulation of the building.

Works are also being carried out to improve accessibility in common areas of buildings with the installation of elevators, stairlifts, ramps and other devices such as light and sound signals.

The ARRU of this municipality, which includes the rehabilitation of 63 houses and the reconstruction of a building, is delimited between the commercial area of ​​the town and access to Puerto Lumbreras.

Nuria Fuentes stressed that "these actions allow an area that was deteriorated, improve their living conditions considerably, these 64 families have more quality of life, and the creation of jobs in sectors related to the works being carried out" .

The beneficiaries of the subsidies obtain aid of up to 50 percent of the total budget of the action that will be carried out in their homes, with a maximum amount of 14,850 euros.

For the reconstruction tasks, the aid supposes up to 35 percent of the cost of the work, with a maximum of 30,000 euros per house.

During the years 2015 and 2016, 17.6 million euros have been invested in the development of ARRU projects in the municipalities of Bullas, Lorca, Cehegín, Cartagena, Jumilla, Lorquí, Torre Pacheco, Puerto Lumbreras, La Unión, Archena and Murcia ( The Palmar).

The director general insisted that for the regional government "guaranteeing decent housing is a priority, especially for families in situations of special vulnerability";

And recalled that "the 2017 Housing Plan envisages aid of 19 million euros for this year that will be used for the rehabilitation and reconstruction of real estate, regeneration of urban areas in a score of municipalities in the Region, rental assistance, Building Assessment Report ".

This Plan will reach more than 8,500 families with housing needs and will create more than 1,500 jobs related to construction.
