Last night was presented the new tour guide of the Castle of Nogalte de Puerto Lumbreras in a multitudinous act in the Casa-Cueva Workshop of the Craftsman.

The guide has been prepared jointly by Antonio Merlos, Juan Gallardo and José Manuel Crespo.

The presentation ceremony was attended by more than a hundred people, among which were different members of the Government team.

The opening ceremony was the responsibility of the Councilor for Tourism and Culture, Mª Victoria Jerez.

Later Julio Navarro Palazón, researcher of the School of Arab Studies (CSIC) of Granada intervened.

Then it was the turn of the three authors, who explained different aspects of his book.

It should be noted that this publication presents for the first time, jointly, all the knowledge that up to date has on the medieval history of Puerto Lumbreras.

In particular, the book focuses on its Islamic farmhouse and the castle of Nogalte, fruit of the documentary and archaeological research carried out during the last years.

In addition, the text is accompanied by numerous figures and plates that emphasize the informative and amusing character of the same, showing even a panoramic view of the urban center of Puerto Lumbreras in the thirteenth century.

Establishing the geographical framework of medieval Islamic Nogalte as a starting point, we enter a fascinating journey through this stage of the history of the current lumbrerense territory, getting even closer to that Andalusian past, from the arrival of the first Arab contingents to this part of the Southeast peninsular until the conquest of Granada by the Catholic Monarchs in 1492.

One of the authors of the book, Antonio Merlos, explained that "thanks to the different archaeological interventions carried out in recent years in the Nogalte fortress, a good number of materials have been recovered corresponding to their ceramic tiles, some of which illustrate This publication and allow us a better understanding of what was the daily life of those our ancestors. "

The last part of this work offers, as a tourist guide, a complete route to know all the details that we can discover today in the Castle of Nogalte, accompanied also by an attached map that facilitates the tour and interpretation of the visit.

The Councilor for Culture and Tourism explained that "this new publication allows citizens to know the geographical and historical reality of the Castle of Nogalte, one of our major tourist attractions. This book is undoubtedly a necessary work that will contribute to the dissemination And knowledge of the medieval history of Puerto Lumbreras ".
