27.46% of lumbrerenses have participated in participatory budgets (04/07/2017)

The citizens have chosen, through a survey, the different options that the City Council has proposed and have also been able to propose new ones.

A total of 4,125 people have participated, casting their vote, in the process of citizen participation launched by the City Council of Puerto Lumbreras.

Thus, 27.46% of the neighbors of the municipality have been able to decide and propose the destination of 30,000 euros, within the heading of cultural and leisure activities.

Specifically, the activities that have received the most votes have been those aimed at young people with a 14.33%, followed by activities for children with 8.69%, and lastly the oldest ones with 4.44% .

The mayor of the town, Mª Ángeles Tunis, stressed that "we are satisfied with the participation of lumbrerenses, citizens have welcomed with great acceptance this initiative."

In addition, Tunisia has explained that "of the people who have voted, 76% of citizens have done so electronically on the website of the City."

In this way, the citizens have chosen, through a survey, the different options that the City Council has proposed and have also been able to propose new ones to carry out activities in the locality.

The Councilor for Citizen Participation explained that "we wanted to know the opinion of all groups in the municipality, even the smallest to know firsthand what activities are the most interesting."

The procedure of participation has been presential, through ballot boxes that have been installed in different points of the municipality.

In addition, lumbreresenes have also voted telematically, through a web page that was enabled for this purpose www.puertolumbreras.es/encuesta.

All the proposals collected have been analyzed by municipal technicians to study their feasibility and check that they fit the available budget.

In this way, the activities most voted by each sector of the population have been included in the Nogalte Cultural program, among which are trips to theme parks, park cinema, Hugo Salazar's performance, Holi Run color race, humor nights And guateque of the 80s, among others.

The Mayor explained that "activities and musical performances that have not been included in the summer program will be taken into account for the program of the patron saint festivities of October.

The participatory budgets are part of the Plan for Transparency and Citizen Participation, launched by the City Council of Puerto Lumbreras.

To conclude, Tunisia has concluded that "with this initiative we move towards a more participatory democracy model and improve the quality of municipal management."
