Puerto Lumbreras launches the "BiblioPiscina" service in the sports and leisure facilities of the Polideportivo Municipal in which the summer pools are located.
As its name indicates, this service consists of moving to the municipal pools part of the bottom of the library so that users can make use of reading while enjoying a bath.
It is a free book loan service that allows you to enjoy reading to people who access the summer pools.
In order to have access to this service it is essential to present the membership card of the Municipal Library.
The books can be removed in the pool every day from 12.00 a 20.00h, and the duration of the loan may be that of the stay of that pool day or return within a period of 15 days, at the same point of collection.
The Councilor for Culture and Tourism, Mª Victoria Jerez, stressed that "this summer we take the libraries to the street with the service of bibliopiscina and biblioparque. It is necessary to update traditional methods to encourage reading, especially among the smallest."
The council has stressed that the main objective of this initiative is to bring culture and books to the users of the summer schools, and continue with the program of activities organized throughout the year from the Municipal Library Network.
