The Autonomous Community and the City of Puerto Lumbreras have put in place works of conditioning in the patio of the public school Juan Antonio López Alcaraz.
In particular, the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports has invested 24,643.34 euros in these improvement works in the courtyard of the educational center.
Homework has begun this week, taking advantage of the schoolchildren's vacation and will conclude before the start of the new school year 2017/2018.
The actions that are being carried out consist of the execution of a storm collector, as well as in the conditioning of the gravel soil with concrete for the correct evacuation of the rainwater.
In this way, a rainwater collector with a 200 mm diameter pipe has been installed and a 500 mm impeller has been installed on the collector for the collection of runoff water.
The mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Mª Ángeles Tunisia, visited the works accompanied by the director general of Educational Centers, Mª Remedios Lajara, the school director and representatives of AMPA, and explained that "this action is done to improve the collection of Rainwater in the area of ​​the court and sports courts, as periods of heavy rains form accumulations of water in certain areas.
In addition, Tunisia added that "with the completion of this work we will solve one of the concerns of the center, ending the problem of drainage that generated puddles on days of heavy rains."
Finally, the Mayor emphasized that "we continue to improve the infrastructure of all our schools," and recalled that "this summer we have increased investment in works to continue maintaining and improving the facilities of public centers."
The performances in public schools have had an amount higher than 40,000 euros and have focused especially on improvements in accessibility, the adequacy of playgrounds, gyms and toilets.
