Yesterday was held the first edition of the Popular Race "City of Puerto Lumbreras", which involved more than 200 athletes from different points in the Region of Murcia and neighboring provinces.

The winner of the competition in absolute category was Andrés Lario Martínez, the second place went to Francisco Molina Lorente and Carlos Manzano Arredondo took third place.

Starting at 18.00 hours, the sports event started at the public park Augusto Vels with the departure of the smaller categories.

The test was disputed on a route of 5 kilometers urban and was jointly to benefit of the Local Board of the Spanish Association Against the Cancer.

At 18.00 hours the test began with the departure of the pre-female category;

18.05h male prebenjamin;

18:10 a young female;

6:15 p.m.

6:20 p.m.

6:25 p.m.

8:30 p.m.

Male children 18: 40h;

and at 19:00 it was disputed the absolute race, that comprised the categories from cadets to veterans F.

The distances they made were for prebenjamín (born in 2010 and later): 100 meters;

benjamín (born in 2008 and 2009): 400 meters;

alevín (born in 2006-2007): 1,000 meters;

children (born in 2004-2005): 1500 meters;

cadet (born in 2002-2003): 5,000 meters;

juvenile (born in 2000-2001): 5,000 meters;

junior (born 1998-1999): 5,000 meters;

promise (born 1995-1996-1997): 5000 meters;

senior (born in 1994 up to 34 years old): 5,000 meters;

veterans A, B, C, D, EYF: 5,000 meters.

Councilor for Physical Activity and Sports, Juan Rubén Burrueco, stressed that "this first edition of the popular race has been well received, being an excellent opportunity to enjoy outdoor sports while collaborating with the fight against cancer ".

The Popular Race of Puerto Lumbreras is organized by the Athletics Club "ORBITALIA-CANogalte, in collaboration with the City Council of Puerto Lumbreras.
