The Government Council today approved the free transfer to the City of Puerto Lumbreras of the property occupied by the Youth House of the town.

The City Council requested the transfer of the building, after having during the last 15 years a right of use on this property, located on Salvador Caballero García Avenue, consisting of three floors and semi-basement, and with a total built area of 632 square meters.

In this building is the Young Space, a multipurpose facility that concentrates different initiatives and services for young people in the municipality, as the office 'Point Info Employment', a specific space of advice and guidance for the integration of young people in the labor market , as well as other facilities such as a computer room with free Internet access, a 24-hour study room, a youth counseling office and the headquarters of the Sports Department.

Delimited the protection environment of the Casa Lucero Mill

The Governing Council has approved, at the proposal of the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Environment, to delimit the environment of protection of the Windmill Casa Lucero or Lo Herrero de Cartagena, cataloged as an Asset of Cultural Interest with category of monument.

The environment of this mill, located on the service road CR S-XVI, west of Los Beatos, is the corresponding to the plot where it is located, and its delimitation has the favorable reports of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of Santa María de la Arrixaca.

This monument is a mill to raise water on a circular platform, with a circular raft still in use.

It does not conserve chapitel, but it maintains the machinery in the interior, like loom, boom, wheel of the air, wheel of hell and drum.

According to the documentation, the Windmill Casa Lucero or Lo Herrero was built in 1925 by Asensio Vidal, had as miller Uncle Aniceto and ceased its activity approximately in 1952.

In Spain the use of windmills was adapted to the peculiarities of each place, with the appearance of three distinct types, the mill from La Mancha, the Andalusian and the Campo de Cartagena.

The Campo de Cartagena is characterized by belonging to the type of Mediterranean tower mill, horizontal axis crossed by four or five pairs of rods, rotating roof and candles, usually eight triangular.

This typology is similar to those of Andalusia, those of the Greek islands of Crete and Mykonos and sailings of the Portuguese Algarve.
