The City Council paints messages of rejection against gender violence in the access to public schools (16/11/2017)

The City Council offers a broad program of activities against gender violence that includes talks, competitions, masterclass and solidary walk, among other activities.

The mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Mª Ángeles Túnez, accompanied by the Councilor for Equality of Opportunities, Sonia López, presented this morning the programming of activities with the purpose of commemorating the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.

The last initiative of the Municipality of Puerto Lumbreras has been to paint messages against sexist violence in the entrances of the public schools of the municipality.

The mayor of the town explained that "it is a measure more aimed at raising awareness and engaging all citizens of Puerto Lumbreras in the fight for equality between men and women."

From the Department of Equal Opportunities has been developed a program with more than a dozen activities, which aims to raise awareness and awareness among the population, and especially the youngest, on the importance of preventing gender violence.

The programming, under the motto "Love me free and without fear", will begin on November 18 with the workshop "Let go, four steps to a full life", aimed at women and men, by the yoga teacher, Sergio Cambra, at the Women's Center.

The program also includes a drawing contest for stickers against male violence, focused on the students of the Rambla de Nogalte Institute.

This contest aims to promote artistic creation and boost creativity, while increasing the awareness of young people in this problem.

Within the program of activities, it includes the decoration of public spaces with protest phrases against gender violence.

Specifically, the access to the four public schools of the municipality will be painted with phrases of rejection against sexist violence, created by the students of 6th of the different educational centers.

The program of activities will also include talks with the title "Healthy Relationships" aimed at young people.

These talks will be given by the psychologist of the Specialized Attention Point for Victims of Gender Violence and will take place at the IES Rambla de Nogalte from November 20 to 24.

In the same way, on Tuesday, November 21, a Kundalini Yoga masterclass "Awaken your inner power" is planned at the Women's Center, starting at 7:00 p.m.

On Wednesday, November 22, a conference on the prevention of gender violence will take place at 5:00 pm, as well as a Korean Personal Defense Masterclass, at 8:30 pm at the Women's Center.

The program will continue on Thursday, November 23, with a reading animation workshop under the title "The feelings", recommended for children from 6 to 12 years old, at 5:00 pm, at the Municipal Library.

That same afternoon, at 7:00 p.m., an open Biodanza class will be given at the Women's Center.

On Friday, November 24, a human bond will be held with young people from IES Rambla de Nogalte and the first prize will be awarded to the winner of the sticker drawing contest.

At 6:00 p.m., a minute of silence, solidary march and reading of the manifesto to commemorate the International Day against Gender Violence.

The concentration for the departure of the march will be at the Women's Center.

The program will end on Saturday, November 25 with a personal defense workshop for women taught by the professional boxer and champion of Spain Kick Boxing, Mª Carmen Romero, in collaboration with the Local Police of the municipality.
