The City Council of Puerto Lumbreras will request, through the Municipal Plenary, the extension of hours and days of attention for the renewal, issuance and modification of the National Identity Document (DNI) in the municipality.
The mayor of the town, Mª Ángeles Túnez, explained that "with this measure we provide citizens with the management of these procedures, shortening waiting lists and avoiding trips to the municipality of Lorca."
In this way, the Commissioner of the National Police of Lorca will be asked to increase its presence in Puerto Lumbreras to carry out the tasks of issuing and renewing the DNI.
Lacking the municipality of the National Police Station, it is necessary that agents from other municipalities move to Puerto Lumbreras to provide this service to Lumbrerenses.
Mª Ángeles Tunisia stressed that "it is a service that citizens have valued very positively, but the considerable increase in requests makes it necessary to extend the service provided, as well as offer the possibility of carrying out these procedures in the afternoon, as currently they are only done in the morning. "
Currently, the service of issuing and renewing the DNI takes place an average of 3 times a month and every day they serve about 35 people.
With the time schedule, the service could be provided to more than a hundred people each month.

The renewal of the National Identity Document must be done in the corresponding office of issuance of the DNI, where a fee will be paid and a photograph of a recent color card and the previous DNI will be presented.
