A score of people have participated in the Christmas sweets contest organized by the Department of Culture and Tourism, on the occasion of the arrival of Christmas.
On Tuesday afternoon the awards ceremony was held at the Casa de los Duendes Socio-Cultural Center to reveal the name of the winners of the "Puerto Lumbreras de dulce" contest.
Specifically, the first prize in the contest was for Margarita Acosta with her "fardelejos", a typical La Rioja sweet made with puff pastry and almonds.
The second prize went to José Andrés Gázquez for his "cordiales" and the third to Verónica Sánchez who presented a roscón de Reyes.
The winner of the first prize has received a large basket with premium products.
In addition, people who have obtained the second and third prize have also been given a lot of Christmas products.
The only requirement that must be fulfilled to participate in this traditional contest is that the elaborated sweets are typical of Christmas as it is the case of the mantecados, marzipans, cakes or chocolates.
All participants should preferably present their candy in portions so that it can be tasted later by the jury and those attending the event.
It should be noted that the City Council of Puerto Lumbreras has also organized a sweets contest in the Lumbrerense hamlet of La Estación-Esparragal.
Tomorrow, December 21, from 7:00 pm, the award ceremony will be held at the Municipal Offices of the district and attendees will enjoy a tasting of sweets.
