The mayor of Puerto Lumbreras meets with the president of the Community (12/01/2018)

The mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Mª Ángeles Túnez, met today at the San Esteban Palace with the president of the Community, Fernando López Miras, to analyze some of the most relevant needs and projects of the municipality in terms of education, infrastructure and water, among other issues.

In the field of education, the mayor and the president have analyzed the procedures for the construction of an Integral Vocational Training Center in Puerto Lumbreras, which will increase the educational offer with new training cycles.

Similarly, they have addressed the construction of a new private school, which will open its doors next school year 2018/2019.

The mayor of Puerto Lumbreras has stressed that "with these two new center will expand the educational offer and will increase the number of places, allowing more students to enroll."

In addition, Tunisia has added that "the two projects respond to an important demand that exists in the municipality".

Being a private initiative, the construction and construction of the school, which will occupy an area of ​​more than 25,000 square meters, will not entail any cost for the City of Puerto Lumbreras.

In this sense, Mª Ángeles Tunisia stressed that "the implementation of this project will create new opportunities and contribute to the revitalization of the local economy with the generation of more than fifty direct jobs among teachers, assistants and staff of dining room, as well as a score of indirect positions with the hiring of gardeners, maintenance services and suppliers. "

During the meeting they have also addressed the future project to be carried out in the facilities of the Parador de Turismo de Puerto Lumbreras.

Thus, Mª Ángeles Túnez explained that "we are studying different possibilities and analyzing financing ways to create a center of reference in hotels and gastronomy".

On the other hand, the mayor has requested the mediation of the Community to expedite the arrival of water, through the transfer, from the Negratín to Puerto Lumbreras.

"The transfer is a great opportunity for the development of the municipality and the creation of employment, since with the transfer of a hm3 will generate new opportunities in the agricultural and livestock sector," explained Tunisia.

In the same way, Mª Ángeles Tunisia has requested the collaboration of the regional government in the implementation of a residence for the elderly with 24-hour assistance services, for which the first procedures have already begun.

Finally, the mayor stressed that the president of the Autonomous Community, Fernando Lopez Miras, has reiterated his willingness and commitment both on his part and by the entire regional government with the municipality of Puerto Lumbreras.
