Inauguration of John Romero Official Chronicler of Puerto Lumbreras (11/07/2010)

Juan Romera

Romero was born in 1932 in the town of Mazarrón but at 6 years of age he moved with his family in Puerto Lumbreras.

Studied the Diploma in Human and Public Relations, and worked 36 years as Head of Post and Postbank in the city that has seen it grow.

It was in the 80's, and especially after his retirement in 1992, when addressed in depth the task of investigating past Cabezo de la Jara and generally throughout the municipality lumbrerense.

Since then Romero made a great work on local characters, unique aspects of Puerto Lumbreras and surrounding areas have seen the light thanks to the effort put into its historical task.

Throughout their journey researcher has published 25 works of different themes and content, but almost all related to aspects of the history of Puerto Lumbreras.

In 2000 he became a corresponding member of the Royal Academy of Alfonso X the Wise, in recognition of their outreach and for his numerous works.

As a result of his studies on the origins and historical heritage of Puerto Lumbreras in 2005 was appointed Official Chronicler of the session, and his investiture Romera received official recognition as Lumbrerense Chronicler.
