XXIII National Folklore Festival of Puerto Lumbreras (11/07/2010)

The Festival featured performances by local folk group Coros y Danzas Virgen del Rosario and other groups that represent the folklore of various regions.

The town of Puerto Lumbreras hosted last night XXIII National Folklore Festival in the program framed Cultural Nogalte 2010.

More than 1,000 people attended the Festival which this year was attended by over 150 artists representing the folklore of various regions.

At its twenty-third year, the Festival was attended by the Group of Songs and Dances 'Las Limas Cáceres' (Extremadura), the Marquesa de Benamejí Group (Córdoba), and Grupo de Coros y Danzas de Cieza Salcillo Francisco (Region Murcia).

Moreover, as each year the National Folk Festival was the tradition of the town of Puerto Lumbreras in the traditional parranda, Malaga and Jacks represented by the Chorus and Dance Group Virgen del Rosario.

"In the 2010 edition, Puerto Lumbreras has hosted folk dance groups from other regions such as Andalusia and Extremadura. The National Folk Festival each year becomes important to become one of the most important folk performances at regional and national level," said the Councillor for Education, Culture and festivals, Isabel García.

CULTURAL REPRESENTATION IN THE FESTIVAL

CHOIR AND DANCE GROUP VIRGEN DEL ROSARIO DE Puerto Lumbreras (Murcia)

The current group of Songs and Dances Virgen del Rosario was established in 1980, and currently make up more than 40 people, including members of the rondalla and dancers.

His work focuses on the conservation, recovery and distribution of music, dance and traditional costumes of the town.

The group has participated in festivals lumbrerense National and International Folklore leading to other countries such as Italy, Portugal, Belgium, Holland, Germany, Turkey, Romania and France.

CHOIR AND DANCE GROUP Marchioness of BENAMEJÃ (CORDOBA)

The cultural association of music and dance "Marquesa de Benamejí" Benamejí born in Córdoba, in 1973, as a group of Songs and Dances.

Heir to the beginning of the work around the traditional dances performed "Section feminine" was adding new dances, costumes and becoming a repertoire and costumes themselves.

It currently has a very rich set of traditional dances, Goya and flamingos and offers a varied and lively entertainment.

Has emerged as one of the most representative groups and supporters of the dances of the province of Cordoba, and as one of the most important in Andalusia.

CHOIR AND DANCE GROUP 'THE FILES OF CACERES' (Extremadura)

The Chorus and Dance Group "LIMES" Canaveral (Cáceres, Spain), was created in 1997 by a group of friends concerned to recover, maintain and disseminate the cultural events, festivals and folklore, both Canaveral its region and the rest of the region of Extremadura.

Since its inception, the group has participated in numerous regional competitions and festivals, national and international, and now has a wide range of jacks, balls and dances, which seeks to highlight the most significant cultural values that can and should serve as a vehicle to strengthen the awareness of the identity of Extremadura.

In addition to numerous performances in Canaveral on the occasion of celebrations, processions and other celebrations, the group has participated in more than one hundred national and international festivals.

CHOIR AND DANCE GROUP SALCILLO FRANCISCO (CIEZA)

Was founded in 1942 and since then has continued to investigate, collect and disseminate the rich and varied folklore of his region.

He has participated in major national festivals and has represented Spain in various European festivals.

In his repertoire are a total of 14 dances, among which are the jacks and its rhythm seguidillas alive and happy, and Malaga and fandangos, for his majesty.
